TRIAL DATE SET FOR INFLUENCER ACCUSED OF FAKING WYOMING RESIDENCY TO SCORE CHEAP TAGS

A social media hunting influencer already notorious for a viral wildlife controversy in Australia, is now facing a three-day criminal trial in Wyoming next month over allegations she repeatedly lied about her state residency to obtain discounted hunting and fishing licenses.

According to court documents and an investigation by Wyoming Game and Fish Department Warden Jake Miller, Strable is accused of six counts of false swearing for claiming Wyoming residency on license applications despite living primarily out of state. Additional charges include taking wildlife without a proper license and hunting in a wilderness area as a non-resident without a required guide…

Kentucky Spring 2026 Turkey Harvest Sets Record: Hunters harvested a record 36,439 turkeys during the 2026 spring hunting season in Kentucky, smashing the 10-year average of 30,847. Wildlife officials attribute the high harvest to a variety of factors, including more turkeys on the landscape this year, more hunters in the woods and weather conducive for hunting. Read the full story. 

Hunters Feeding Illinois providing nearly 140K meals to families across 48 counties: In a press release from the University of Illinois Extension, it said the initiative distributed more than 46,000 pounds of lean protein to food pantries across the state during the 2025-26 hunting season; which provided an estimated 138,900 meals across 48 counties. Read the full story.

Florida’s $25K Everglades Python Hunt Returns For 2026, Registration Now Open: The hunt for invasive Burmese pythons in the Florida Everglades is officially returning this summer, state officials announced today. The 2026 Florida Python Challenge will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 10, and run until 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, offering participants a shot at a $25,000 total prize pool for removing the nonnative predators. High school freshman in Butler county wins statewide turkey hunting photo contest: A freshman at McKenzie High School won the 14th annual Alabama Black Belt Adventures Association Big Gobbler Photo Contest after a five-hour hunt in Butler County. Weston Lowery harvested a tom with 1-inch spurs and an 11½-inch beard on March 26, the second day of Alabama’s 2026 wild turkey season. He entered the woods around 5 a.m. and shot the bird at 10:30 a.m. Read the full story.

Mission, B.C., man injured after confronting bear on his back porch: British Columbia's Environment Ministry says conservation officers are investigating after a man was swatted by a bear on the back porch of his home in Mission, B.C. The ministry says in a statement that the man was alerted to the black bear at his home by his barking dog around 4 a.m. on Monday, and he tried scaring it off by making noise. Read the full story.

Grant Parish Police Jury opposes Kisatchie National Forest land transfer: The Grant Parish Police Jury voted on May 14 to oppose a proposed legislative measure that would transfer portions of the Kisatchie National Forest from federal control to the parish. The vote came after the jury heard public testimony on a rumored legislative proposal dubbed the “Grant Parish Restoration Act.” Under the proposal, Kisatchie National Forest Land within Grant Parish would instead be transferred to the local Grant Parish Police Jury and School Board.
