Serial Poacher Busted After Taking 174 Illegal Hunting Trips 🤦‍♂️

A 27-year-old man from rural Wisconsin spent the better part of a year and a half completely ignoring the fact that his hunting and fishing privileges had been revoked, and has now been slapped with six new charges. 

Dylan Wolff, of Pulcifer, is believed to have gone hunting and fishing roughly 174 times across five counties while banned from doing either. On those trips, he put on an absolute clinic, killing roughly 22 deer, two turkeys, and about 43 fish…

👮 Unlicensed Nevada Man Arrested for Alleged Illegal Take of Multiple Big Game Animals. Nevada game wardens, with help from the Tri-County Special Response Team, arrested a Lander County resident by the name of Caleb McKinley Spurlock last week following an investigation into the alleged illegal take and possession of multiple big game animals, including mule deer and pronghorn. A search warrant at his property turned up heads, meat, DNA samples, a rifle, and other evidence.

The kicker in all of this being that Spurlock has never ever held a Nevada hunting license or big game tag.

As of right now, the investigation is ongoing and you can bet that we are following this one closely.

🐻 Albuquerque Homeowner Under Investigation After Shooting Mother Bear in His Backyard. A Sandia Heights homeowner is under investigation after shooting a mother bear in his backyard Sunday afternoon. The man says the sow and her two cubs had been living in the neighborhood for weeks, raiding trash, stripping fruit trees, and even killing a fawn just outside his child’s bedroom window. When the bear growled and swatted his dog, he fired what he called a warning shot. The sow was hit but survived.

Wildlife officers later trapped the wounded mother and tried to recover the cubs from the backyard trees. During the process, one cub became tangled in the branches after being tranquilized and died despite efforts to save it. Officials say the investigation into the shooting is still open and charges have not yet been ruled out.

🔨 Dead 14 Foot Hammerhead Sparks Dispute With Local Shark Fishing Club. A 14-foot hammerhead washed up on Carolina Beach over the weekend, and social media immediately pointed fingers at a local recreational shark fishing club. Photos of the dead shark showed a deep cut near the base of the tail and a puncture in the jaw, leading beachgoers to speculate it was the same animal the ILM Shark Club had caught and released weeks earlier.

Looking to clear their name, the club is pushing back hard. They say the hammerhead they handled was at least three to four feet shorter, had distinct scarring including a clipped portion of its tail that couldn’t have regenerated that quickly, and was released within 15 minutes with a member swimming it past the surf into deeper water. They also argue the large laceration on the dead shark’s tail is far too severe to have come from standard catch-and-release handling. For the time being, researchers from the North Carolina Shark Conservancy are still analyzing samples to determine the actual cause of death.
