SEARCH FOR MISSING COLORADO TURKEY HUNTER ENTERS SIXTH DAY
Search teams in Chaffee County, Colorado continued their intensive effort Sunday to find 27-year-old Kaden Sites, who has been missing since he set out on a solo turkey hunt on Mount Shavano last Wednesday.
Sites, who hails from Salida, left the Blanks Cabin Trailhead around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, planning a short hunt as he was scheduled to return for a doctor's appointment at 3:45 p.m. that same afternoon. When he failed to show up, family members located his pickup truck at the trailhead with his cell phone inside — the battery completely drained…

Fall turkey hunting season could be brought back in Kansas: Laura Clawson with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) said that two public meetings will be held in Wichita and Salina this year. The objective of the meetings will be to discuss the possibility of re-establishing the fall turkey season along with proposed regulations impacting non-resident waterfowl hunting on public lands. AGFC adjusts fishing and hunting regulations, sets waterfowl season dates: The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at Thursday’s meeting at the University of Arkansas at Monticello unanimously approved a regulations package incorporating more than 200 changes to the AGFC Code of Regulations. Do Pa. hunters need more land to hunt? This state House panel thinks so.: Rep. Jill Cooper, R-Westmoreland, proposes the non-binding measure to urge municipal governments and encourage farmers, landowners and residents throughout Pennsylvania to open their lands to public hunting and make greater use of the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s deer management programs. State biologists seek answers to rut in South Fork elk numbers: Elk populations in the South Fork Flathead River drainage peaked around 1937, when an estimated 3,700 ungulates roamed the valley bottoms. By the 1950s, the population dipped to about 2,200 elk, which researchers have since considered the maximum sustainable capacity. Aerial surveys in recent years have found closer to 300 animals. Haliburton woman fined for illegal hunting: Katy-Lynn Meloche of Haliburton pleaded guilty to trespassing for the purpose of hunting, unlawfully possessing a firearm at night, using a firearm carelessly to hunt, and possessing illegally-killed wildlife. She was fined $5,000 and is prohibited from possessing an Ontario hunting licence and engaging in any hunting activities in the province for four years. Read the full story.
TFWC advances Tennessee turkey season, OKs straight-wall rifles on private land: By a very narrow margin, the TFWC voted to adopt an alternative which, according to Joe Benedict, TWRA Chief of Wildlife, "Is to never have opening day on the 10th or later in April." That means in 2027 opening day of turkey season will be April 3. Read the full story.
