BORN PRIMITIVE FIRES ARON SNYDER AMID COYOTE KILLING VIDEO BACKLASH

In the age of smartphones and manufactured outrage, a single messy video clip can torch a reputation faster than any rifle shot. And that’s exactly what happened last week with Aron Snyder and Born Primitive Outdoor.

A video that has surfaced out of Wyoming shows the veteran backcountry hunter and gear guy dispatching a wounded coyote. According to some reports floating around the interwebs, the animal had allegedly been attacking a rancher’s calf and Snyder took it upon himself to get rid of it. Snyder’s method, which included dragging, kicking, and finishing the already wounded animal with a knife, looked rough on camera and without full context or a cleaner follow-up, the raw footage spread rapidly…

Action Needed: Sunday Hunting Stripped from Massachusetts Budget Bill: Earlier this week, the Massachusetts House Democratic leadership officially stripped the Governor’s request for Sunday hunting and archery reforms for the sportsmen of the Bay State from the supplemental budget bill (H.5377) and immediately rolled it into H.5493. The Sportsmen’s Alliance appreciates the efforts of Representatives Kelly Pease and Leigh Davis to file a last-minute floor amendment to H.5493, which unfortunately was defeated. Minnesota man convicted of ‘tree stand killings’ of 6 Wisconsin hunters dies: A St. Paul man convicted in Wisconsin’s 2004 tree stand killings has died in custody. Wisconsin corrections officials said Friday that 57-year-old Chai Vang died at a hospital. The shootings happened Nov. 21, 2004, on private hunting land south of Hayward near Exeland. Six hunters were killed and two others were wounded. Read the full story.

JBSA officials ask public to help identify bow hunter seen in restricted Camp Bullis training area: Joint Base San Antonio conservation officers are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest photographed with archery equipment in a restricted training area at JBSA-Camp Bullis while recreational access to the installation was suspended.  Read the full story.

Colorado Hunters Launch Ballot Box Blitz to Lock in Right to Hunt and Fish: At a Teller County sheriff’s open house earlier this month, the squad getting the most foot traffic was not behind a badge. Volunteers with clipboards worked the crowd, urging anyone who would stop for a minute to sign on to a bid to write a "right to hunt and fish" into the Colorado Constitution. Read the full story.

Wildlife experts analyze rare fatal bear attack in Glacier: More than three weeks after an apparent bear killed a 33-year-old hiker in Glacier National Park, questions continue to linger about what wildlife officials called a “stunningly rare” incident.
